Aspirin Mask

I love a good at home beauty secret. Affordable, most of the time it works, and you probably have all the ingredients in your closets! Again, on Pinterest I found this! It was originally shared by non other then Painted Ladies and I was excited to try it out!

I was surprised to learn that aspirin has salicylic acid in it. Most anti acne, or skincare that claims to open up the pores and prevent the re-clogging of pores for a deeper fresher clean contain salicylic acid. I don't get many blemishes but when I do they are on my chin. Annnd I happened to have one last night so I thought what the heck!

Before you even start. I'd suggest pulling your hair back. If you have short hair use some clips to keep it off your face.

What you need:
Aspirin
Water

For your face you will need 2-3 uncoated or lightly coated aspirin. I happened to have Bayer at home, next time I will make sure I get a cheaper generic brand :)

Using your hand or a small mixing bowl (I just used my hand) sprinkle a couple droplets of water onto the aspirin. They will start to dissolve!

Once the tablets have dissolved into a mushy paste - apply to your face!
WARNING: It's very powdery so you will probably want to do this over the sink.

Let it work it's magic on your face for about 5 minutes. I got distracted and kept it on for 10 haha!

Before rinsing away, use the mask as a scrub especially if you have a blemish area or two...
Pat (never rub) dry with a washcloth and moisturize!

Since I tried this at night I used my MUST-HAVE KORRES - Quercetin & Oak Antiageing & Antiwrinkle Night Cream

For this product a little goes a LONG way. This amount is enough to moisturize my entire face and neck.

Review: I liked this at home trick! I will say I still have my blemish but it's def a little drier then it was last night. My face is also a lot softer, smoother and less oily on my chin. Maybe I will try it again today! There is no limit to how many times a week you can use this. Of course if your skin gets irritated stop using immediately!

Do not use this if you are pregnant, nursing or have any of the additional medical conditions listed here under: Who should NOT take aspirin?

Although the absorption rate is slow, it will absorb into your skin so keep that in mind!

What do you think? Will you try this at home?

xoxo
